The Plow and the Peas

April 10, 2009

Spring is here! You may have noticed over the past week we are making noise and changing the look of things out in the main field. Between the cold and rain, we got the old International “Super Chief” Plow hooked up and our first half acre of ground prepped for planting. By Wednesday we had turned over  the soil, fertilized and smooth harrowed the plot north of the strawberry crop.

Earlier today,  we sowed the first beet crop and  spring and  snap peas. In the coming days we will get some more of our early crops in, including carrots, chard, parsley, and importantly, more peas!
